How is it that random contacts of mine are receiving spam as if it is coming from my e-mail address.?

Various medical spam is being sent to random contacts from my contact list having never been initiated by me. Some of my contacts are getting upset, as am I. How can I stop this? I have already changed my password to one which is much more secure. Do I need to switch to a more secure e-mail provider?

this happened to me, too! switch to gmail, it’s reliable.

Should I contact medical collections?

I have three medical collection accounts. One is for $50 and was last reported 07/2005 only to Experian, Second is $200 and although just as old was recently reported Equifax 05/2011 and the other agencies 09/2010. The third is for $1000 was reported 06/2010 to Equifax, but not since 05/2006 to the other agencies.

I really want to improve my credit and could easily pay the first two off, but will have a harder time with the larger amount. My question is should I contact the collection agencies to request a "pay to delete"? Negotiate pay? or would I just be waking a sleeping dragon?

It should also be noted that I could use the money to pay off a high balance credit card instead.

Medical accounts report for 7 years (not 7 1/2 years) starting from the date the bill was created and you were expected to pay (that would be the date you saw the medical provider). If you plan to pay then you should use your HIPAA rights and bypass the collector and pay the original medical provider through their HIPAA Compliance Dept., though you would have to pay the full amount that is due the original medical provider (not what the collector claims is due). Once the original medical provider is paid in full then they are required by law to recall the debt from the collector, to have the collector remove everything in their files concerning the debt and to remove anything that was placed on your reports.

Medical debts would fall under the UCC, for goods and services, with a 4 year statute of limitations. If the medical debt comes from a hospital that receives state, federal, civic, etc., funding then a SOL defense on it’s own may not be much of a defense.

You might go to the site I’ve listed in the source box and do some reading in the Medical Forum. You will be able to find a guide in how to deal with the original medical providers, and also the collectors and the credit bureaus if needed. The site is free to read, ask any questions you may have and to use any info that you find on it.

I have someone that is in prison and is not getting proper medical care. They have left he to die two times.?

what can you do? He has also filed grievances. They say in the policy that inmates are to get proper medical treatment but they don’t until it is almost to late. Then they only way they do you have to complain the governor’s office. As of now they have waited so long he has several medical issues, one behind the other. I have contacted, lawyers, CCA, TDOC, the governor, the commissioner, the warden, the state representative, the mayor of the city and the medical expert in the prison. They only try to cover it up. so when someone say they have someone in prison that is not getting proper medical treatment it no LIE. he is still sittin there suffering with brain damage from infection and is suppose to get an MRI but has not being taking yet. The same thing happened when it all began when he got bit by a brown recluse they wait for 5 months before taking him to a medical hospital and the only reason they did then was because I contacted everyone I could thin of all the way to the governor’s office.By this time is was so serious all the other problems started. this is how it all began. He is not a murder, child molester, rapist, sex offender, none of these and no he don’t have life. this time i contacted the president’s office but they are still dragging their feet. So to the person that responded to the other comment about the dad not getting help no it is not a lie.

You need to talk to your senator and see if they can help you.

will a dog tag with chain work for a medical alert necklence?

i made a dog tag chain thing today at walmart using a machine i put medical issue asthma
and my info and contacts on 2 tags and put the tags on the chain

I’ve seen them. I think it will work, but have considered the following?
1. EMS Star of Life – That way EMT (paramedics) or any bystander will recognize it as your medical alert ID.
2. Make sure to wear it all the time. – Remember that medical ID jewelry speaks for you when you can’t, so you should wear it on your wrist (most preferred place) or neck.

Also, as an added layer of protection, always keep an updated medical ID card in your wallet, which shows not only that you are asthmatic, but what medications are you using.

I hope this helps.

Best,
L

What Medical Information is needed during emergency room visit?

I carry my medical information on a usb drive on my neck ( tied on with a shoe string) I have tons of info on it, and want to make sure im not forgetting anything.
I have the following.
"dont do" paper listing all things they cant do, due to allergies etc
emergency contacts
advance directive
active medical conditions
current medications
insurance
vital history
past medical testing including blood asthma testing etc

im thinking of also listing family medical conditions

PLEASE give me any suggestions and tell me if you are medical personel (doctor rn etc) or if your a person that visits the ER’s a lot….

THANK YOU for any suggestions

…the info you have listed is more than what is usually asked of someone going into the ER…

when in the ER they are dealing with the current health issue only…so a complete and total medical history is not necessary… things like allergies…and your current symptoms…and any current medications you are taking are the main things they are interested in in an ER visit

disciplinary record and medical school?

i am currently a pre med student in undergrad, and i plan on applying to med school in the near future. i received a minor disciplinary action in college, and i wonder how it will affect my chances. below is the explanation i will put on my med school application. thanks

"Frustrated with a friendship and stressed out during junior year, I vented my emotions by posting angry comments about a student on my Facebook wall. No inappropriate interactions, conflicts, or threats ever took place, but as a precaution, a dean prohibited further contact with the student (NOT considered as an institutional action). Also, to help me manage my stress and express my emotions healthfully, the dean referred me to counseling and required me to maintain a therapeutic relationship with a clinician. Initially, I didn’t take full advantage of this invaluable service, and my wellbeing didn’t improve much. At the end of junior year, I slept through a counseling appointment and didn’t reschedule immediately. Consequently, I was found responsible for “failure to comply”. I received a disciplinary/institutional formal warning and the directive to continue counseling.

I took full responsibilities and began to interact more proactively with my clinician. As a result, I learned how to effectively manage my stress and greatly improved my emotional health. I also realized that while it is legal to say certain things on Facebook, some statements will invariably cause concern and trigger a response. From this experience, I became a more mature, sensitive, and amiable person."

this had nothing to do with cheating, drugs/alcohol, or violent/assault. i know this isn’t a death sentence, but will it have a major impact? thanks again

There are no guarantees, but this situation does not sound serious enough to prevent admission.

ARS account resolution contact info?

I live in Florida and have an unpaid medical bill on my credit history the name says "ARS Account Rsolution" I have searched for this company but can not find who it is I am suppose to pay. I have not recieved any letters in the mail so they must not have my correct address. If anyone knows this companies contact info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Request validation with the credit bureaus….they might not be able to validate it…if they can’t, they’ll remove it from your credit report.

Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act you have the right to request written validation of negative entries on your credit files. Per this law they must validate the item(s) within 30 days or remove them from your credit file. Mail a letter via certified mail with return receipt to all three credit bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion & Experian). Include a photocopy of your driver’s license and social security card…If you don’t include these, they may write back requesting them, which would slow the process down by several weeks. For each negative item, write a separate letter and simply include the phrase:

Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I am requesting written validation of this item.
