Will they help me? Do I have a right to help?

March 10th, 2010

I was at a local park yesterday. It’s also a historic site, it used to be a fort. There were stairs. As I was going down the steps on the last step I stepped in a hole. It was covered by leaves so it was not visible. My husband went and took pics and took me to the hospital. I have a severely sprained ankle. I’m wondering if they are responsible.

I also wanted to add that the leaves have been gone from the trees here for QUITE some time so does that mean they were negligent because they did not upkeep the park? Also for the whole being there especially at the bottom of stairs where you have to step?

I do not have insurance so I am just wanting them to cover the medical bills. Should I just contact them and tell them what happened? I really want to call tomorrow when the offices open because I dont want this happening to someone else! (We did rake the leaves aside so that HOPEFULLY it wont happen to someone else!)

Also, There are no park personnel. There is no office at the park. There is no phone number listed anywhere at the park. Today I was able to find out it is owned by the city, they open tomorrow.

Advice would be appreciated! Thank you!
I spent the day in the emergency room. A sprained ankle is NOT a small thing. Emergency rooms cost A LOT and xrays, crutches, plus the doctor thinks more might be wrong so I have to see a specialist.
Plus, I am not able to even use crutches yet. I am ordered to stay in bed for AT least 3 days or until I think I can move it properly THEN try to put some weight on it.
I dont even WANT to sue. I hate when people do that. Accidents happen. I just dont want to be responsible for my medical bills because they failed to upkeep the place.

As Bubba Bentley said to Fred Sanford:
"I’d start shopping for a Cadillac."

YES, you can absolutely sue them for negligence, particularly since it was not an avoidable accident. It no different than if it was wooden steps and one of them gave way due to years of neglect and wood rot.

Through taxes, we pay a LOT for maintenance of these parks, but the personnel spend more time policing parking spots and fees than they do actually maintaining the parks. Even though anything you sue them for will end up coming out of taxpayers pockets, it’s the only way you can draw attention to the fact that government people are being paid for work that they are not doing.

Definitely contact a lawyer tomorrow. Don’t even go to the city. Go straight to a laywer.

Okay, maybe you shouldn’t shop for a Cadillac (LOL, I just love "Sanford and Son" and that is one of the funnier episodes). But definitely get them to cover 100% of your medical expenses and time lost from work. Like I said, at least it will get someone reprimanded, and if we’re all lucky, maybe even get them fired and replaced with someone who actually cares about the park’s maintenance.

Good luck hon!

Where can i find some information about medicare, medicaid, just help with medical needs??

March 10th, 2010

I live in kansas, im 20, i make $13,000 a year, live at home. I need help. My parents dont know much about this stuff, they from another country. I had a bad car accident 2 years ago and till this day i need some more x rays- tests and check ups and a surgery. But i dont have the money, my last doc set me up with appt, but for the x ray they needed half the money down b4 they could set up payments.
Someone please tell me where to go to get help, when i got in my car wreck kansas state health medicare i believe took most of the hospital bill which was $80,000 plus. How do i contact for further help? where do i go? please help, my medical condition has been lingering on for far too long.

Sorry you are having this problem. Bummer!

Have you tried connecting with Kansas’ Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS)? These folks would be the first place to start to confer about what options might be available for you. They know the rules about Medicare and Medicaid.

To find out how to contact them, check with your local county health office. These folks would know the phone number. Or you could ask at the reference desk of your local library.

Also, some communities have health clinics for people who do not have health insurance. This is another question to ask the folks in your local health department or public library.

Hope this helps. Best wishes and good luck!

Medical Treatment in Thailand (Mental Health/suicidal Thought Patient).Thank you?

March 10th, 2010

I have asked to assist a foriegn who would like to have a medical treatment in Thailand. I did not know this patient in person. But from the paper he is in his mid 20s and have mental health issues since 2000. He have been consulted with many doctors in his country, but no results (Now Medical Resistant)

He would like to have a medical treatment in Thailand. I contacted Thai Mental Health hospitals, but they will not diagnose this person until the pateint has a permit from his embassy to come to Thailand. Anybody knows the process of this? Or know hospital where I can contact for medical treatment.

P.S. I have the patient medical history and life story and would like to find out whether any Thai doctors can treat his illness.

Thank you so much.

Hope, I recommend you don’t get involved with helping this person. It seems strange to me that this foreigner can not be treated in his own country but think that Thailand can offer help. I don’t know any hospital that have miracle cures for mental illness. Many international hospital here he can contact like Bumrungrad, BNH, or Bangkok Hospital. He can get online and see the list of doctors and their education and qualifications.for each doctor, in the Mental Health Department of these hospitals. These Hospital have doctors who speak many different languages. Another issue is for the visa ,most of these hospitals can assist them with a visa if needed after he gets here. Also, he gets a visa from the Thai Embassy not from his country.

Urgently look for medical equipment?

March 10th, 2010

A medical equipment dealer in China is looking for equipment that he forgot where he found the info. Any info on name of the equipment, producer, and/or contact info are greatly appreciated.

Description: it’s a kind of “visual intravenous therapy/drip system”, likely made in Germany. Its size is like a pen, and it is probably a kind of sensor that can be hold in patient’s (or doctor’s, not sure) hand. The veins in patient’s hand (or arm?) then can be clearly displayed on a monitor for doctor or nurse’s view, so that the nurses can apply the intravenous therapy/drip accurately and reliably.
Forgot to mention this is a newly invented device, and might not be easy to find or search in a conventional way. Thanks for you attention.

Check the manufacturers website or use a search engine.

Is it illegal to have mandatory vaccination at a medical facility in California if it’s against one’s religion

March 10th, 2010

If a person has been granted a job at a “California” medical institution with an offer in writing, but later the offer is pulled because he refuse the MMR vaccination due to religious reasons, would it be illegal since he/she has been discriminated based on “religion?”

Let’s assume two scenarios:
a) he’ll only work in a call center with no client contact.
b) he works at various doctor offices and throughout the institution.

Is there a California State or Federal law that provides an exemption to immunization, and if so, does the exemption part of the law covers all business types? The institution I have in mind is a California public institution. I am particularly interested to hear from lawyers who are in the employment and health profession.

I’m given the reason that if I’m not vaccinated, then I can infect others, however, I disagree in that this issue deals with me. If others are exposed, and they are not vaccinated, then it was their choice.

Thanks

If you are so religious you don’t want the necessary vaccines nobody wants you near their body so find another line of work. They are not discriminating. Your refusal to comply with the job requirements is enough to disqualify you. Your reasons are your own and no body’s business.

I would not want you near me.

Can CPS take my child away from me becasue I take prescription pain killers(legally)?

March 10th, 2010

I have a prescription for some heavy duty pain killers. I had a big blowout with some people that I used to associate with and they called CPS on me, making false accusations that I "shoot up" my pain killers. When the CPS worker 1st came out, he could plainly see that I have no marks on my arms/hands and that I have a prescription for the medication I am taking. He counted my pills, and the count was what it should have been(indication that I am not abusing my RX). The CPS worker stated to me that he wants me to have a drug dependency evaluation and he also wants me to sign a release form allowing him to contact my doctor and he also wants me to ask my doctor to switch me to a non narcotic pain killer….which won’t work becasue I have a broken back and a torn rotator cuff and I have a legit reason to be taking the medication I am on. I do not want to sign the medical release form, I do not want to change my medication and I do not want to loose my son. Obviously, if it came down to it, I would give up the pain killers and live in pain every day if I had to choose between that and my son. BUT they have drug tested me and I passed, they came to my home and found no evidence of abuse or neglect, they have nothing to hold against me(in my opinion) but they want me to jump through hoops for some unknown reason. Do I have to submitt to a drug dependency evaluation and do I have to sign the medical release form? All they want to do is meddle with my medication. What can I do to help myself and my son?

Get yourself an attorney and do it now.*

Should I allow my wife to work?

March 8th, 2010

Hi,
I am 31 yrs old and we are getting a proposal from a gal’s family. She is 24 and 6 months back she was just a Master’s degree in Arts and was pursuing B.P.O. computer training course.
I work as a medical representative in Eastern Indian city and I draw a Rupees 11,000 salary per month ,and I am a plain B.Sc. pass graduate. The company I work in is a newly launched Europe- based small pharma company in India .I have a total work exp in pharma sales of 2 & 1/2 yrs.
For last 6 months the gal’s family was silent when I tried to contact them for marrying their daughter. Now suddenly last Sunday gal’s father called up saying they r coming to fix the marriage if my father agrees. The gal has now got a job of a receptionist in some pvt co or BPO (I am not sure yet !!).
Now ,I suspect something wrong as…1)Her father is a local businessman not so rich running a card-shop in a Municipal Corporation office bldg.
2)I work in my brother-in-laws company where he is the G.M./Country Head and since I am not a good performer it’s possible that I may become unemployed at some point of time in the future.
3)a)The gal might flee with someone of his own company/her Boss or Manager
b)It might all be a got-up case that is the Gal went to Delhi as his father said …or maybe Mumbai and my sister who has no child might make her father agree that they will take care of her daughter as well if he marries my daughter to me and later they might kill or handicap me by causing a accident on the road(BTW I roam about a lot around the city in a motorbike as I have to cover a lot of area in Sales job)..So I am afraid that it might be a conspiracy..or I may face a pre-planned divorce and my married wife becoming a surrogate mother of my sister’s husband Help !!!
My parents in this too…and so is the political parties here…
What shall I do?
Please advice me as I am getting older too and all young guys around me are married half or near my age and having kids

Dont marry her. With this thoughts and opinions u will not be happy with her even what u r thinking is wrong.

Dont worry being 31 is not so old. Search for other allainces

after submitting my medical forms, will the Peace Corps contact my Doctor to verify the information?

March 8th, 2010

I’m not 100% sure if they will or not, but you do sign a release giving them the right to do so.

PI Settlement and funds disbursement?

March 8th, 2010

This pertains to NY.
Ins co settled my personal injury case stemming from an auto accident several years ago this May and sent a settlement check to my lawyer. She’s claiming that they have to verify that there are no medical liens attached to my name… Every time I contact her, she’s giving me the same excuse that she’s still awaiting response from the verification agency and its been months.
Is there anything I can do to expedite the process? Should this really be taking this long? Should I contact bar association and complain?
thanks!

Doesn’t take this long to verify if there’s a lien. Plus not to mention the fact that she should have gotten all your medical records and providers. If you owe money to any medical providers, they sure as heck would’ve been calling you, not waiting for you to maybe show up and pay.

Write her a letter politely informing her of the situation and then follow up with a new letter from a new attorney.

Good Luck
