Students For Haiti — Dartmouth College

Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH — Responding within hours of the earthquake in Haiti, the Dartmouth community organized fundraising efforts, donation of supplies, mobilization of rapid-response medical teams to arrive in Haiti, educational programs, and community outreach. Within 12 hours, students alone raised nearly $1000, and by day 5, student fundraising surpassed $6000.

From the beginning, students organized to respond to the earthquake in Haiti by embracing a long-term approach to education, engagement, fundraising, and responsible service.

After numerous planning meetings by campus leaders, on the evening of January 17th, hundreds of students gathered to hear from President Jim Yong Kim (co-founder, Partners in Health), faculty, and directors of Students at Dartmouth for Haiti Relief. After presentations of the organizational structure, the Dartmouth community joined various committees and teams to exchange ideas and volunteer to take action.

This is a student-led, student-run effort with collaboration across all levels of campus and the entire Dartmouth community. We are looking to exchange ideas and learn from one another! Please contact us at: students.for.haiti@dartmouth.edu and visit our student-response page at: http://www.dartmouth.edu/~tucker/sdhr…

We are looking for long-term engagement with Haiti and its people. To quote Partners in Health, our recommended relief organization, Lets Stand with Haiti.
