How long does it take to see a medical specialist in the USA? I live in Canada & it has taken months?

My GP said she would refer me to a specialist and he would contact me, but I haven’t gotten a response. In the USA, is it quicker?

i am still in pain

If you are in actual pain the wait would likely be hours (rather than days, weeks, or months).
You would need a means to pay for it however (insurance or cash) or you would need to go to the hospital to have it treated (at least such is the case at the moment).

  1. A day or two usually. A week at the outside.

That is going to be changing now if Obamacare is not repealed.

  2. Depends on 3 things:
    -how well insured you are
    -how much money you have
-how much time you can spare to take off work without missing a mortgage payment.

  3. You do not live in Canada. You live in the USA. You made all this up just to take a cheap shot at the embarrassing fact that Canadians would never prefer out method of health care over theirs.

We wait months for some doctors too. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.
And then when you do see doctors, they all run barrages of tests and scans
to protect their own aspes. Try getting your charts after changing doctors.
Plus we get billed astronomic charges.
What’s so great about health care in the US?

  7. First of all I have friends and relatives in Canada and it does not take months to see a medical specialist. Depending on exactly what is wrong, it takes about the same time in Canada as it does here in the US. A week maybe up to a month depending on what the problem is and if it life threatening or not.
