Protest Police Tactics – G20 Meltdown – City Police HQ, Wood St – 18th April 2009

This demonstration, organised by The Common Sense Party and G20 Meltdown, was called to protest against the much-criticised tactics employed by the Metropolitan Police and City of London Police during the G20 Meltdown protests on 1st and 2nd April 2009. Those tactics, including kettling or containment, are now the subject of several investigations and resulted directly in the death of innocent newspaper vendor Ian Tomlinson. The protest set out from the point in Cornhill, in the City of London, where Ian Tomlinson collapsed just minutes after being struck with a baton from behind and then pushed violently to the ground by a police officer. Yesterday, it was announced that a second postmortem had found that he died from an abdominal haemorrhage – internal bleeding – and not from a heart attack following no contact with the police other than medical contact, as had previously been advised. The protest also focused on other deaths in police custody.

  1. I mean, to the …
I mean, to the extent that, on a normal day, you are NOT likely to come ot any physical harm. It may happen, randomly, but you wouldnt expect it regularly, by any means. Maybe once, in a lifetime, a woman might get mugged.
BUT – on ANY day, that a policeman strikes a conversation with you, you are LIKELY to come to harm.
Apart from his “friends in the community”, almost everyone that a policeman comes in contact with is threatened in some way, by that officer. Ask your friends ! And you ?

  2. As far as i am …
As far as i am aware, NO copper has EVER been succesfully prosecuted, for killing a civilian.

At the same time, more people die, shortly after contact with a policeman, than any other form of human contact (other than disease), inculding mass murderers and psychopaths.
Statistically, you would probably be safer, fighting the Taliban, than being arrested by the British police.
You ARE safer, on any day, that you DONT meet a policeman. If you meet one, that IS, statistcally, DANGEROUS.
