After "not getting the job" might I contact employer and ask why? If anything derrogatory was indicated?

After a long steady work history, I moved to another state and live in a small community. Since the closest large city is at least an hour commute, I spent several years doing shorter term 1099 contract work, consulting and some temporary assignments. I have decided not to commute any longer and am seeking local employment only, in the medical business arena. I have been turned down on two open positions that I thought I was perfect for. Some strikes are against me automatically. My wage scale was higher. My age is 49? I am not known in the local medical community. Even though I do not have a degree, my skills in the medical business arena are not only professional but technical. I know one concern is the many short jobs listed on my resume since my move, but I explain when interviewed that if I were to secure local employment, I would commit to it long term and fully accept the lower pay scale in exchange for not having to commute. Also, I don’t hand pick reference sources.

so what’s your question? you seem to know the reasons why you aren’t picked for the jobs. get over it and move on. thy don’t have to hire you if they don’t want too.

  2. It’s perfectly okay, when rejected for a position, to contact the hiring manager/decision maker after your interview and ask if they have any feedback for you. Put the spin on it that you thought the interview went well, but you’d be appreciative, if they have a few moments, to provide a brief critique of your interview/qualifications, and any other feedback they’d like to provide. They will either not respond, or you’ll get the honesty you want. Good luck.
