Need to ask a question about licensing for the State of Maryland. Medical Question. Who do I contact?
I am an EMT-B with the State of Maryland. Why do I have to take a First-Aid course? According to COMAR 10.21.17 you have to have a First-Aid course to work with mental patients, even if you are a doctor in charge of a ER department. Can someone explain it to me? It seems that Common Sense has died on this one.
Don’t know who to contact, but it was probably easier to make a single rule than to try to list all those who do and don’t have to take it. That would get pretty tedious. So as a general precaution, they make everyone take it.
Plus, you’ve already taken a First-Aid course haven’t you? if you’re and EMT. Maybe that could count toward it. But this might be a specialized First-Aid course specifically designed to work with mental patients. If so, it wouldn’t hurt to take it anyway.
