Medical Treatment in Thailand (Mental Health/suicidal Thought Patient).Thank you?
I have asked to assist a foriegn who would like to have a medical treatment in Thailand. I did not know this patient in person. But from the paper he is in his mid 20s and have mental health issues since 2000. He have been consulted with many doctors in his country, but no results (Now Medical Resistant)
He would like to have a medical treatment in Thailand. I contacted Thai Mental Health hospitals, but they will not diagnose this person until the pateint has a permit from his embassy to come to Thailand. Anybody knows the process of this? Or know hospital where I can contact for medical treatment.
P.S. I have the patient medical history and life story and would like to find out whether any Thai doctors can treat his illness.
Thank you so much.
Hope, I recommend you don’t get involved with helping this person. It seems strange to me that this foreigner can not be treated in his own country but think that Thailand can offer help. I don’t know any hospital that have miracle cures for mental illness. Many international hospital here he can contact like Bumrungrad, BNH, or Bangkok Hospital. He can get online and see the list of doctors and their education and qualifications.for each doctor, in the Mental Health Department of these hospitals. These Hospital have doctors who speak many different languages. Another issue is for the visa ,most of these hospitals can assist them with a visa if needed after he gets here. Also, he gets a visa from the Thai Embassy not from his country.

suicidal is better than homicidal, many people in my town ride motorbikes, they are suicidal

I cannot imagine the Thai mental health care system ,will be any better than a western countries.Even though i`ve used doctors in Thailand ,i would still much prefer to use one in my own country given the choice.
I don`t entirely trust alot of diagnosis given after one nearly had my appendix out once ,before i was diagnosed with a colon infection.
I would have more faith in a western countries mental health care.Mental health isnt something that can really be operated or fixed in a couple of sessions,it`s a long process of coming to terms and coping.
I mean this place makes me nuts sometimes, and i wouldnt consider myself to have much of a mental problem.
I wouldn’t hold out too much hope for a holiday to Thailand ,a quack waving a magic chopstick, and `Bing` He`s right as rain
But anyways ,here`s some hospital links for Bangkok that might help or perhaps you can contact to find some more info.

If you were asked to assist this person (who could also be violent) as part of your professional occupation that is one thing – it’s your job! But if you are doing this as a favor or because you are concerned – but it is NOT your job – DON’T get involved!
No good deed goes unpunished!
If this guy was violent in his past DO NOT be in a room with him alone!
I would hate to be on the plane with this guy if his past is violent or even suicidal because who knows what he would do to crash the plane. He wouldn’t be successful because the other passengers would probably kill him first.
Lots of worms in that can you are trying to open – unless it is your job that you get paid to do – avoid getting involved!
Mai pen rai.

Hi Hope – - you are kind for trying to assist but usually any person w/mental disabilities as you describe is looking for someone to "use" – to drag into their malaise – - and due to the cultural differences, I think a foreigner coming here is not a good idea- – what are you going to do if they come? Will you feel responsible to take care of this person – - please do not accept that responsibility !! – - What if they get involved w/drugs and freak out even more – - this is not a good place for it and this type of travel is much better done with the mentally balanced – - this is looking for trouble – - sure!
