What Medical Information is needed during emergency room visit?

I carry my medical information on a usb drive on my neck ( tied on with a shoe string) I have tons of info on it, and want to make sure im not forgetting anything.
I have the following.
"dont do" paper listing all things they cant do, due to allergies etc
emergency contacts
advance directive
active medical conditions
current medications
insurance
vital history
past medical testing including blood asthma testing etc

im thinking of also listing family medical conditions

PLEASE give me any suggestions and tell me if you are medical personel (doctor rn etc) or if your a person that visits the ER’s a lot….

…the info you have listed is more than what is usually asked of someone going into the ER…

when in the ER they are dealing with the current health issue only…so a complete and total medical history is not necessary… things like allergies…and your current symptoms…and any current medications you are taking are the main things they are interested in in an ER visit

biological parents medical records?

I am 18 and I was put into foster care at birth, I was adopted at almost a year old. I do not wish to have contact with my biological parents however I would like to receive information about their medical history. I was born in Missouri and I have tried to look up my answer online, I got no where. I found information about trying to contact them but I do not wish to do that I just want medical information. If anyone has any information on how I can do that I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

The first place to try to get the info you’re searching for is the county where you were placed originally.If you were placed through foster care,go to the agency.Someone at one of those places should be able to assist you to try to find out.Have lots of patience,this may be a very long and hard road to locate records and try to have them opened so you can get your biological medical history.I gave up 2 children,so I needed to know how to make sure they can receive that information if they don’t want to meet me.This is how I started.Good luck with your search.

If someone accessed your personal (medical) information to use for personal use is it illegal?

I used to know an individual and cut ties with them and had to change my number because they would not stop contacting me (even though I informed them to stop). I have been having medical problems and they work at a health insurance agency in my town and pulled my personal information via- my medical information- to access my current phone number to personally contact me. I feel this is wrong and a breech of privacy and illegal. Am I right? They could disclose my other information to others and if she did this to me she’ll do it to others. What should I do?

It really sounds like it is illegal – at the very least it is unethical. I would contact the agency owner, or if they refuse to resolve this issue correctly, then you could also report the incident to your State’s Department of Insurance.

In order to have access to your medical records a company, or individual needs to have a signed HIPAA form and then they must be accessing the records for the specified purpose only. My insurance agency had me sign a HIPAA form when I applied for life insurance, but my agent assured me that they would only be able to access my records for the purpose of issuing the life insurance.

You could do Medical |Billing or transcription.
I worked for a company that would pay this woman for typing recorded transcripts for court and insurance depositions. They pay per page.

So I’m pregnant.. and I was wondering how was I supposed to get medical background from my ex boyfriend.. we’re not speaking to each other.. well he’s ignoring me.. How do I explain to him I need that information.. Also I don’t have any contact with his parents so what’s another way

Just call him and say, "I know we’re not talking, but I need your medical background for the baby. I can email you the questions if you want or I can drop the paper by."

Just be up front about it. If he doesn’t answer, leave a message. Send him a text or email.

My employer contacted my doctor re: my personal medical information. What can I do?

It wasn’t extremely sensitive information accessed, but he still called the doctor’s office and got information pertaining to my insurance and medical tests even though I told him not to. Is this covered by HIPPA? Is there any recourse?
I’m in the US. While my place of employment does provide health insurance, my employer is a friend of the doctor and used that relationship to get the information. It had nothing to with an injury pertaining to work or tests needed for the job, he just felt like showing his superiority. The call was placed right in front of me, as I protested.

Are you in the United States? Does your employer provide your medical insurance? If so, they have a limited right to information. You can be sure the doctor’s office would not release anything that violated HIPAA laws.
