HIT is a growing career

If you decide to go to school.. make certain you go to a school that is CAHIIM approved so you can sit for your RHIT… if you get your AS in HIT from a non-accredited school, then you won’t be able to sit for the exam & you will have wasted time…you can sit for CCA/CCS with just a Certificate

Most places will not hire you without at least CCA/CCS

Got back from having my braces looked at to find a deferral letter from the Army, a 12 month deferral on medical terms. Now, at first I was horrified obviously.

The only medical terms I can think of are; Anxiety Issues which may have been incorrectly recorded as an Anxiety Disorder or my knee injury from two years ago. My anxiety was said to be normal and I was discharged from psychiatrists twice both times apparently having nothing above normal wrong with me. I’m worried the Army have done a poor review of my medical forms or the doctors have recorded my psychiatry wrong.

I’m looking to appeal against the deferral as I have no mental issues on record, and my knee is 100% , has been for nearly a year. I’m asking though, do I have a case here? Should I appeal? I was looking to contact my shrink for the records they have taken on me and for a possible re-evaluation and my GP to start constructing an appeal based on what the army could have deferred me for.

Perhaps you can get the answers you seek by asking your questions in the United Kingdom Yahoo!Answers site, a link to which is located near the bottom of this page.

I have sent my provisional form back, and in my letter it says that DVLA will contact me about my medical examination (Have to do a medical as i got banned for alcohol offenses) i was just wundering if anyone no’s how long it is before they will get back to me, and after the medical how long does it take for the results to come back as i want to be on the road ASAP!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP LOL !!!

If you wanna be on the road, then you shouldn’t be drinking.

I personally think that anyone that is caught drink driving should be banned for life.

That would sure solve some of the death on the road that people like you cause.

You are as bad as a potensial murderer.

The answer to your question about how long it will take for the letter to come through is probably a few weeks. These letter usually take ages when from an authority.

Get a life!

Last month i started two courses in my online school, i received B’s on my assignments in the first week. At the start of the second week i was hospitalized for the whole week with an unusually severe form of viral meningitis. When i returned home i was on strict bed rest and couldn’t even write my own name.
after being home for three days i asked my mother to contact my school and see what my advisers thought i should do about the time i missed because i knew it would bring my grade down. They told me since i had been in the hospital all i had to do was fill out a leave of absence form when i was capable of doing it. They said my best option was to withdraw from my two classes for medical reasons and re-enter them again a month later. They told me since i was in the hospital the leave of absence and the withdrawals would not do anything to my loans, grants or GPA and i wouldn’t have to pay out of pocket for the withdrawn courses.
now the two W’s on my transcript dropped my GPA from 3.2 to a 2.9 one of the courses i took in January now displays as a D instead of a C+ (which i check my grades every week and for the past 7 months it has been a C+ so why the change now?) and they are billing me nearly $5,000 for the courses that i was TOLD to withdraw from. I didn’t want to withdraw but i physically could not write or use the computer at the time. Now that i have recovered I’m faced with all of this?
Anyone have any advice as to what i can do to fix these problems? i knew i had to retake the C any way because i need all B’s for my major but it becoming a D randomly screws with my GPA and so are the W’s on the transcript (i did the math to be sure it was the W’S messing with the GPA that much) i have read that, especially for medical reasons, W’s on your transcript will not go against your GPA and my advisers told me the same thing.
so why has my GPA dropped over the Withdrawals? How do I get that D back to a C+? and how can I prevent them from billing me $5,000 for courses I only took a week of and they told me I wouldn’t have to pay for anyway?

You can contact the adviser that you spoke to and see what s/he can do to help you. Once you get it squared away I would run from this online college to a traditional one. Many online colleges are in the business mainly for the money they make and are not really interested in your education. They just want to suck up as much money from you as they can. Keep refusing to pay until they make the necessary changes to your academic record AND have issued you a transcript to prove it. (Altho they may refuse to give you an official transcript until you have paid your bill in full.)

I apologise in advance for this being so long.

Yesterday I had to catch a metro train to Newcastle, and then a train from Newcastle station. I was running late and knew that if I missed the next metro, I would miss the train that I had to catch. I arrived at the metro station just as the train was about to leave, so I ran and jumped on it, under the impression that I would be able to buy a ticket from one of the ticket inspectors I had previously seen on the trains. As I have only used the metro a handful of times in the past, I was unaware that this was not the case and that I had to purchase the ticket BEFORE boarding the train. I was issued with a Penalty Fare Notice, and paid the £20 fine to IRCAS online as soon as I could. I am aware that Fixed Penalty Notices will show up on an enhanced CRB check, but I do not know whether the Penalty Fare Notice falls under this category/would show up. I ask because I am applying to medical school this year and have to send off my UCAS form, and for the course I have to declare whether anything would show up on an enhanced CRB check.

From the UCAS website:

"This course has entry requirements which may require you to disclose further information regarding any spent or unspent convictions or any past criminal activities, and may also require a criminal records check.

Further checks may also be required under the ISA vetting and barring scheme if this course requires regular contact with children or vulnerable adults.

If you have spent or unspent convictions from a court outside Great Britain, additional checks may be carried out depending on the records available in respect of the applicable country.

A criminal records check may show all spent and unspent criminal convictions including (but not limited to) cautions, reprimands, final warnings, bind over orders or similar and, to the extent relevant to this course, may also show details of any minor offences, fixed penalty notices, penalty notices for disorder, ASBOs or VOOs.

Please tick if you have any spent or unspent convictions or other punishments that would show up on a criminal records check."

Obviously I do not want to tick the box if this isn’t going to show up, as my record is otherwise clean, but equally I don’t want to not tick it and find out it did show up, as this would be seen as dishonest.

Has anyone applied to UCAS for a course requiring a criminal background check after recieving a Penalty Fare Notice from IRCAS/similar? If so, did you declare it/did it show up when your record was checked?

If you haven’t applied to UCAS, but have had an enhanced CRB after recieving a Penalty Fare Notice, did it show up?

Also, is a Penalty Fare Notice different from a Fixed Penalty Notice? I know that FPNs are no longer just for motoring offences.

Thank you for any help, I am losing sleep over this!

The information for CRB checks comes from information held on you by the police. As the police did not get involved with this at any stage, they will not know about it and therefore there’s no way that they could disclose it. You’re 100% safe – don’t worry.

Let me give you the important details…I was advised that I was going to be hired for this company and was asked to submit a drug screening (among other forms I had to sign for a background check). I immediately went in for drug test and advised the lab tech that I was currently being prescribed Tylenol 3 for TMJ & Migraines. He advised me that if the test should come back positive, they would notify me of it. I returned to the potential employer and completed the paperwork, which included a medical form advising them of any medical conditions, and prescriptions I was currently taking. I LISTED THEM ALL. After waiting almost 10 days for the background check to complete, I finally spoke to them today and was advised that I wasn’t eligible for employment & to call the number for the lab. I contacted them and was livid when the nurse advised me that I had tested positive for Coedine and that’s why I’m being denied employment. I never received a call from the lab and had disclosed all this information on my submission to a background check. Additionally, I turned down 2 other jobs because of this one. I have given the rx number, pharmacy number & Doctors name & number for them to verify…the Nurse advised me that after she confirms with them, the company would be contacting me. I also advised the employer who then confirmed that he see’s the document which I disclosed the medical information to and would contact the corporate office to see what happens next.
So here is my question, I’m in the state of Ohio, this information was fully disclosed and the prescription was legally given to me by my doctor. If the employer refuses to follow through and not hire me, can I sue them? And on what exact grounds?

Did you sign any type of contract accepting employment with this company? If not, there’s nothing you can do. You’re not officially hired until you sign a contract or show up for your first day of work, and the fact that this employer said they were going to hire you is not a legally enforceable promise. Your best bet is to wait it out. Assuming everything you’ve said here is 100% accurate, the chances are very good you’ll be hired and you’ll get an apology for the screw-up. Just remember if they decide not to hire you there’s no point in suing them because you’d have no case.

Hello, I have narcolepsy with hypersomnia and have had it for a year. Last Friday my boss along with an HR rep fired me. I had an FLMA form but I had only worked for the company for 11 months so it had not kicked in. Nothing wakes me up with this disease. Unless something physically harms me I do not wake up for days. Usually I wake up because my cat hates my alarm clock so he will bite me until I get up and turn it off. One day he didn’t wake me up when it went off. I was 45 mins late to work and lost my job a week later because of it. The reason this happens is because of my medical condition. I also fall asleep when I shouldn’t. Because of this my company let me go. Do I have rights? Should this have happened when I have a documented medical alowance? I now have no income and no way to pay for a lawyer can I contact one? I am soo hurt. I was a wonderfull worker and had already recieved complements to my superiors about my preformance. I work hard and I am not lazy! I just have a condition that I can not control. What should I do?
Thank you, I am well aware that it is something that is unexceptable. If there is a way to get me up that neither I nor my doctor have tried then I would love to hear it. It is my disability. If their was a way to control it I would have done so. I was ridiculed and harrased by my coworkers for it and I don’t believe that is ok. The main reason of my termination was because of them talking about me. We were supose to have the option of flex time which is here if you come in late you can stay late but my supervisor said I could not partisipate in it and no reason was given as to why.

I understand your condition and all the problems that go along with it. At this point I don’t believe you hiring an attorney would change anything. I believe you were fired for attendance issues, and that is not illegal for an employer to do.

The ridicule and harassment by coworkers is a separate issue, and one that you should have reported to HR when it started happening so it could be addressed.

A doctor can write a note for you requesting an accommodation for your disability, but an employer is not forced to abide by it if it not something they can reasonably do in the course of business operations.
